Mentor

I recently photographed my father in law Mr. Charles Gurkin at the request of my mother in law Becky, an extraordinary woman I will tell you about sometime. This particular image requires a little history. Charlie is and has been many things in his life, a vietnam veteran, police officer, salesman, poet, novelist, inventor, husband, father, photographer for 35 years, and a friend. Charlie helped start me on this journery of exploration in photography and life for which I am ever grateful.

Now retired, Charlie spends his days inventing new bicycle configurations which he regulary rides through town. This image for Becky is a combination of two things she loves, Charlie and her house.

I could write a book on Charlie and the lives he has lived, but I will end here saying that Charlie has one thing for sure, my respect. I decided not to long ago I would tell Charlie how I felt about him and how much he has enriched my life, instead of poetic words I came up with one sentence. "Charlie, I would help you hide the body".

Leslie & Robert Nov 9.

I spent a great evening with Leslie, Robert and their sweet little Alex. Most of their wedding was a night time wedding which always affords some creative opportunities. I was a little disappointed to not see any cheeseburgers at the wedding............Robert.

Karen & Brandon's Wedding

Wow, what a wedding! I have so many great images it was almost impossible to pick a few for my blog. Karen gave me free reign to do what I wanted and I took full advantage. All I can say about Karen is look at her, she is stunning. Karen is owner operator of Vision's Catering, who also catered and decorated the event which was just amazing.

Janet & Jim's Biltmore Wedding

I had the pleasure of photographing Janet and Jim's wedding in Asheville. Janet is absolutely the best, I could have not asked for more. Janet planned an incredible event with grace and composure. People like Janet and Jim are why I love what I do.
